Robbie Williams says the idea of his daughter “struggling” in life encourages him to make more of an effort.
The singer became a father for the first time in 2012 when his wife Ayda Field gave birth to baby Teddy.
The Brit has helped to put together this year’s Soccer Aid event – which benefits UNICEF – and he will watch on from afar as he will be on tour.
Williams told Digital Spy that having a child has brought a number of issues – such as charity work and effort – into focus.
He said: “UNICEF has always been a big passion of mine. Obviously having Ted in our lives has just amped that passion.
“It gives it more depth, makes it more real. To think of her struggling obviously drives me on.”
Speaking about how Soccer Aid – which is taking place on June 8 at Manchester’s Old Trafford stadium – clashes with his Swings Both Ways tour, Williams said:
“I can’t get the insurance to play because I’m in the middle of a tour. We just came in from Zurich and if I do the back in out on the pitch, the tour goes kaput and I’ll have to sell either Ayda or Teddy. And I’ll miss Ayda.”
